With so many characters already returning for ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ on top of all the new ones being introduced, it’s hard to imagine that Joss Whedon could fit anyone else in. Besides the usual roster of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, we’re also meant to see familiar faces like Don Cheadle’s Colonel James Rhodes AKA the Iron Patriot and Hayley Atwell’s Agent Peggy Carter. But Captain America and Iron Man’s friends apparently aren’t the only ones popping up in the highly anticipated sequel to ‘The Avengers’ as one of Thor’s has just been added to the mix as well.

According to Total Film magazine, Stellan Skarsgård will be reprising his role as Dr. Erik Selvig, who was last seen in ‘Thor: The Dark World.’ The actor reveals in an interview that he’s gearing up for his fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance out of the five that he signed on for. Though he played a larger role in Whedon’s first film for the House of Ideas, the Swedish actor states that this time around it will only be a “really nice” small appearance that may throwback to his last adventure with the God of Thunder, which saw the scientist running around in the buff:

“Yeah, I was naked again. They called my agent and said, ‘Do you think Stellan will mind being naked?’ My agent laughed his head off. Yeah, I almost insist! Sometimes with a contract you get a nudity clause, which is fantastic. It’s supposed to protect me from having my genitals exploited, which I doubt anybody would make a dime on.”

While it would be funny to see that gag carried over, Selvig could also be used to deliver exposition. Considering that he is a scientist and the Avengers will be dealing with a mad robot, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner might need a little extra help. Seeing as they still think that Agent Phil Coulson is dead, they probably won’t be getting help from Agents Fitz and Simmons of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ so Selvig is the next logical step if that’s the direction Whedon is taking.
