Millennium Films has just found a writer for their prequel to the 1973 ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and it’s newcomer Seth M. Sherwood.

Sherwood has big shoes to fill in his take on ‘Leatherface’ who is one of the most gruesome horror characters created. The movie will most likely be a focus on his early years as a serial killer and perhaps will even delve into what made him the man he becomes. With Rob Zombie going that route with the ‘Halloween’ franchise, it wouldn’t surprise me if more movies unfortunately try to psychoanalyze their main character.

I hope Sherwood is the kind of writer that realizes we want to see the crazy and not ask the question of “Why is Leatherface crazy?” It’s hard to guess what route he’ll go as we haven’t seen much of his work to date, though he does have a film being directed over at Blumhouse as well as a thriller called ‘Interstate 5’ which made the 2012 Blood List and one that we could very well see down the line.

While last year ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ featured Leatherface’s cousin and takes place years after the events of the prequel, it is doubtful that we’d see Alexandra Daddario return. That is, of course, she plays an older character as her character would be too young to fit into this film. It really begs to question if the film will focus just on Leatherface or all of his older friends and family that we were introduced to in the original ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ as well.

Are you looking forward to seeing a return of one of the most infamous families in horror history? Do you think we’ll see Leatherface coming out full steam with his classic killing moves or will this be so early in his career as a killer that he’ll still be leaning how to be a truly crazy whack job?
