The X-Men have had a number of different members on the team over the years. Just like the Avengers, the roster was constantly changing and some heavy hitters have come and gone through the ranks. But now a HUGE name appears to be making his way to Brian Michael Bendis’ acclaimed series ‘All-New X-Men’ and it’s someone that the writer is extremely familiar with.

Last week, Bendis shared a cover by Sara Pichelli for ‘All-New X-Men’ #32 on his personal Tumblr that was a homage to the classic cover of ‘Uncanny X-Men’ #139 by John Byrne that introduced Kitty Pryde to the team. However, instead of Shadowcat appearing front and center, she’s off to the side while Miles Morales is the focal point of the cover. That’s right, Ultimate Spider-Man is featured on an X-Men cover! Before we get into how that can be, check out the artwork below:

Now, some of you may be scratching your head about how Morales is appearing alongside the original team of X-Men in the mainstream Marvel Universe. Well, back in the ‘Spider-Men’ mini-series, it was revealed that Peter Parker learned that the 616-universe had its own Miles Morales. However, that fact has yet to be followed up on. Other than Bendis saying, “This is real!”, no other details were revealed about the circumstances surrounding Miles’ inclusion on this cover, but Marvel has announced that ‘Spider-Verse’ is coming up and will feature every Spider-Man ever. My theory is that ‘All-New X-Men’ will somehow tie in with this upcoming event and that’s how we’ll see Miles end up with Kitty and her X-Men. Although, if that’s not the case, no one will be able to introduce Miles Morales to the classic Marvel mythology and revisit the plot points of ‘Spider-Men’ better than Brian Michael Bendis considering that he’s been writing the character since he was introduced back in 2011.

What do you think about Miles Morales joining ‘All-New X-Men’? Do you think that his introduction to the team has something to do with ‘Spider-Verse’? Share your thoughts and theories in the comment section.
