The Discovery Channel scores big every year with ‘Shark Week‘. Syfy scored pretty big with ‘Sharknado’ the made-for-TV movie starring Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, so who can blame the network for cashing in on that success and declaring its own special week of programing, ‘Sharknado Week’, kicking off on Saturday July 26th, two full weeks before Discovery’s big event. (Last year, Ziering and Reid memorably appeared on Discovery’s show ‘Shark After Dark’ to plug their movie.) The highlight of the week will be the debut of ‘Sharknado 2: The Next One’ featuring most of the cast of the first movie which airs on July 30th and a new Roger Corman movie ‘Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda’ which kicks the festivities off on the 26th.

‘Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda’ – Sunday, August 2 at 9PM – In this new Roger Corman movie, the child of Sharktopus goes toe-to-toe with the latest science experiment “Pteracuda” – half Pteradactyl, half Barracuda – in a battle for monster supremacy. A production of New Horizons Pictures, the movie stars Robert Carradine (Django Unchained) and Katie Savoy (Living with Models).
