The latest video clip for ‘Godzilla‘ is a featurette all about the process used to bring the giant monster into the realm of 3D. Not because he’s too fat like some critics would claim and they needed it to fully show off his lard. He’s a giant walking lizard monster. I mean, come on.

No, this new featurette shows us how Gareth Edwards has gone through the 3D conversion process for the film. All in all, it’s pretty interesting to see how the transformation took place and I’m sure watching Godzilla take another monster in 3D with the city being destroyed around them during the battle will be fantastic on the big screen. While I don’t have an issue with films being shot in 3D (say what you will about the subpar plot, ‘Avatar‘ was beautiful), those that are converted in post usually don’t feel right to me while watching.

For me, though, I would say that the real treat is for those of you who just can’t get enough of the early footage of the film! We have a few new shots here from Godzilla rising from the ocean to deal with humans. Godzilla rising out of the ocean is about as iconic as old school zombies rising from the grave. It just feels right and from what you can see here, the new film is going to have it look right as well!

I mean visually? Damn, it looks pretty damn good to me! I know I’m clearly biased at wanting to see the film, but this really just looks like a spectacle worth watching!

So what do you think of the new footage and what they’ve told us about the 3D conversion? Are you going to be seeing the movie in all of its 3D glory or, like me, will you be checking it out in 2D? Share your thoughts below!

‘Godzilla’ starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston, and Sally Hawkins hits theaters on May 16, 2014 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.
