The new international trailer for ‘Godzilla’ is here, and ScienceFiction.com has it! Along with, I might add, a monstrously cool poster!

A new poster for Godzilla 2014 is here… and as an accomplished designer since the early eighties I can say with conviction: it is brilliant. The design is top notch, bold, striking, expertly done. But hey, don’t just take my word for it — check it out below!

“The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control… and not the other way around.”

Bold new Godzilla poster!

“Those nuclear tests in the Pacific… not tests. They were trying to kill it.”

The Gareth Edwards version of our favorite King of the Monsters has released an amazing new trailer too. This international release from Japan is spectacular.  Are the Japanese trailers cooler than most? Maybe, but once again, I’ll let you be the judge.

The great lizard and I go way back, so I was thrilled when Roland Emmerich brought him back in ’98. Say what you will about it, but I actually enjoyed that campy, goofy flick. Now I’m more than curious how Edwards will handle his vision of the misunderstood behemoth.

I was happy to see that David Strathairn had been cast, I love his work. And I fell in love with Juliette Binoche in ‘Chocolat’ in 2000! Such a lovely woman.

Here’s how director Edwards describes the anti-heroic ‘Godzilla’:

“Godzilla is definitely a representation of the wrath of nature. The theme is man versus nature and Godzilla is certainly the nature side of it. You can’t win that fight. Nature’s always going to win and that’s what the subtext of our movie is about. He’s the punishment we deserve.”

According to Edwards, Godzilla’s design is inspired by bears and komodo dragons; his face in particular is influenced by the heads of bears, dogs and eagles (Edwards said the eagle “has a lot of nobility, it made him feel very majestic and noble.”)

Prepare yourselves, Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures releases the beast on May 16th 2014.
