After many months of waiting in anticipation, the Wachowskis and Warner Bros. released the first trailer for ‘Jupiter Ascending’ back in December of last year. This marks the directing duo’s return to science fiction after taking a break to pursue projects such as ‘Speed Racer’ and ‘Cloud Atlas’. Then, earlier this month, an international trailer hit the web showing a little bit more of what to expect from the upcoming space opera starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. Now, a second trailer has finally surfaced, along with a pair of posters featuring the film’s stars.
Andy and Lana Wachowski’s latest film follows the life of a hard-working immigrant who discovers that she’s actually intergalactic royalty when an alien assassin becomes her protector from the evils of the universe. If there’s one thing to be said about this video, unlike the first trailer, the newest look at the sci-fi epic seems to better indicate who the antagonists are. From the streets of Chicago to the far-flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), who was born under a night sky, with signs predicting she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
