Back in the year 2000, Marvel decided to launch a new imprint known as Ultimate Marvel to reimagine their beloved characters and update them for a new generation. This new line was made possible by the likes of Brian Michael Bendis, Warren Ellis, Mark Millar, and Joe Quesada and featured all-new origins for heroes such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. Of those books, one of the most popular titles had to be Bendis’ ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’. Now, after fourteen years and soon to be 200 issues, that book is coming to an end in April as part of the Ultimate Marvel NOW relaunch.

Following the events of ‘Cataclysm’, which saw Galactus the Eater of Worlds make his way to the Ultimate Universe to cause some trouble, the world is in shambles. Teams have been dismantled and some heroes made the ultimate sacrifice, but the world still turns. That’s where characters like Iron Man, Kitty Pryde, Sue Storm, and Miles Morales pick up during Ultimate Marvel NOW. And while ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ is no more, ‘Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man’ will rise in its place. However before that can happen, we need to celebrate the milestone 200th issue that will set the stage for the relaunch of the entire Ultimates line.

After writing every issue since it’s launch, Bendis will continue his streak with ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ #200. Joining him along for the ride will be every artist who joined him along the way on this book including David Marquez, Mark Bagley, Mark Brooks, Sara Pichelli, and David Lafuente. The only person missing from the double-sized anniversary issue is Stuart Immonen, who unfortunately has prior commitments to Bendis’ other books, ‘All-New X-Men’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.

Take a look below at the upcoming landmark book that finds the characters of the Ultimate Universe gathering to remember Peter Parker on the anniversary of his death with a special unlettered preview:

If you look at that final image, you might notice a very different hero in the center of all the action. No word yet on if this is Miles Morales’ new Spider-Man costume or a new character all together, but for now we’ll have to wait until the book hits the shelves of our local comic book shops to find out.
