Each new production video for ‘Penny Dreadful‘ gets me even more excited for the show. This time we are introduced to the variety of artists who are behind the look and feel of the series. They clearly show how passionate they are about recreating sets that would truly reflect 1890’s London and on top of that, they present the “lairs” of the main characters which are uniquely tailored to the individuals that live within.

Check out the behind the scenes featurette below:

As you can see, the video introduces set director Phillip Murphy (‘World War Z‘, ‘Wrath of the Titans’) who gives us an overview of what the variety of artists who work on the set do and what they keep their eyes open for while making the sets. We also meet supervising producer Chris King and graphic designer Damian Byrne who show us vintage photographs and small advertising pieces that they have to make it all work together and feel like it’s in the right time period. Finally creator John Logan (‘Hugo‘, ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’) shows how the sets for specific characters are based around what the characters would design them to be like and partially the whys to it as well.

Does the crystal clear dedication of the artists behind the look of the show have you more interested in what we’ll be seeing once it debuts on screen?
