Well fans of the ‘Hannibal‘ series are going to be happy to hear that a major character from the novels has just been cast! Michael Pitt (‘Boardwalk Empire’, ‘Seven Psycopaths’) will be taking on the role of Mason Verger and is set to be introduced near the end of the second season!

For those of you who haven’t read Thomas Harris’s novels which the show is based off of, or seen the film ‘Hannibal’, Varger is an extremely wealthy man who becomes a patient of Dr. Lecter. In the novel, he decides to play a game with Hannibal when he discover’s his secrets which don’t work out that well for him. In the film, Varger is horribly disfigured due to his encounter with the madman. I have a feeling we’re going to see his character follow more in line with the novels so I wouldn’t count on Pitt being massively disfigured on the show at all, or if he is not anytime in the near future. Regardless of what way they play the character he’s never good news for Hannibal in the long run (even though quite fun off the bat!)

Here is the latest promo for the series titled ‘A Warning’!

I am eagerly looking forward to the show’s return and can’t wait to see how they show us a fight between Lecter and Crawford before flashing back and giving us the true start to the season in its second episode. It’ll be a full season of build up and if the first season is any indiciation, each episode will leave you hungry for the next one!
