“This is the cosmos, a network of a hundred billion galaxies, and it’s the greatest story science has ever told.”

That’s right. The new series of ‘Cosmos‘ is nearly here and we have a new trailer to give us a taste of what’s to come.

Originally hosted in the 1980s by Carl Sagan,  ‘Cosmos: A Personal Voyage’ became staple in the science world, both inspiring future scientists, and helping laymen understand the intricate mechanics of the universe. It was no small undertaking to make difficult subjects like physics understandable for everyone, but on Sagan’s “ship of the imagination”, he took us to worlds that we hadn’t realized were our own.

This new series, ‘Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey’ will be hosted by the popular scientist Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and features new special effects the likes of which Sagan’s era could never afford.

This new trailer doesn’t reveal too much more about the series, but it’s still has some nice visual treats, but much of the themes Carl Sagan established in the original series are unmistakably there. “The cosmos is withing us. We’re made of starstuff. We are the way for the Cosmos to know itself,” said Sagan, relating how everything in the universe is connected to everything else.

Appropriately, this new trailer ends with a very similar phrase: “Discover what connects us all”.

‘Cosmos: A SpaceTime Journey’ will air Sunday, March 9th, 2014 at 9/8C on Fox.
