Every Doctor in ‘Doctor Who‘ has had his style, from the Cricket kit that the Fifth Doctor wears, to the Fourth’s long scarves and the Eleventh‘s bow ties. There has always been something unique about how every Doctor dresses, and the Twelfth Doctor will be no exception. And here we are, our first glimpse at our new favorite Time Lord in a style that is a little reminiscent of his predecessor, but definitely all his own, replacing the browns with blues, the vest with a cardigan, and a collar that is no longer adorned with the famous bow tie.

Capaldi’s reaction to the costume is simply beautiful:

“He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”

As for the lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffatt? Well, he’s just as excited about the new look:

“New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”

Filming for series eight started earlier this month in January after 10.2 million viewers watched the Christmas Day special in order to get a glimpse of their new Doctor, and now we have just a little bit more of a taste of what to look forward to.

For the more fashion curious, Capaldi is “sporting a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt as well as black Dr. Marten shoes. The look was created by Doctor Who costume designer Howard Burden.” I think we can all agree that he is looking darn good.

Now, this may be premature, and totally judging a book by its cover, but this new look certainly seems like it’s making Capaldi’s Doctor a fan favorite if the social media buzz is anything to be believed.

What do you think of the Doctor’s new look?
