The reboot of ‘The Terminator‘, now officially entitled ‘Terminator: Genesis’ continues to move forward.  Jason Clarke and Emilia Clarke (no relation) have been cast as John and Sarah Connor respectively.  Now casting directors are looking to cast Kyle Reese, Sarah’s lover and John’s father.  Same names had previously been rumored to be connected to the role, including Nicholas Hoult (‘X-Men: First Class’) and Garrett Hedlund (‘Tron: Legacy’), but both apparently turned the part down.  Now it seems as if the studio will be looking for a lesser-known actor.

Some names that have emerged are:

Jai Courtney (‘A Good Day To Die Hard’)

Newcomer Tom Cocquerel

The part was originally played by Michael Biehn in the first movie and by Anton Yelchin in ‘Terminator: Salvation’.  ‘Thor: The Dark World’ director Alan Taylor will helm the reboot with Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his most famous role at least in some capacity.  (He isn’t expected to play a large role.)

Out of the names in discussion,, Jai Courtney has the highest profile, having appeared in ‘Spartacus: War of the Damned’ and ‘A Great Day To Die Hard’ with Bruce Willis last year.

Are you familiar with these actors?  If so, which do you think is the right person to play Kyle Reese in this reboot?
