The live-action reboot of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ has been riddled with negative rumors pretty much from when it went into production, from director Michael Bay stating that the turtles would not, in fact, be turtles, but extraterrestrials to the fact that the name has simply been shortened to “Ninja Turtles.”  Everyone involved has attempted to alleviate matters, including Caucasian actor William Fitchner who will depict the formerly Japanese villain Shredder (now known as Eric Sachs).  Now it seems like a major ‘Turtles’ supporting cast member has completely been omitted from the relaunch– sports enthusiast Casey Jones, who was portrayed by Elias Koteas in the original movies.

I guess after Jason Vorheese, someone had to try and give hockey masks a good name.

Supposedly, the former script has been thrown out and the Heroes In A Half Shell will once again be mutated turtles.  Then again, Meagan Fox is still playing April.  Will Arnett from ‘Arrested Development’ will play her camera man Vernon Fenwick and supposedly, his role has been beefed up, apparently to fill the void left by Casey Jones’ absence.  However reports are that the role is essentially comic relief (I mean… Will Arnett!  Hello?!) and not the rough around the collar do-gooder of the original movies.

On the plus side, it’s reported that the action in this movie will be over the top.

Then again, William Fitchner stated that he signed on for three films, so the hockey themed hero could crop up in a future installment… provided this one does well financially.
