Well, we just learned that The Scarlet Speedster, The Flash would not be getting a “backdoor pilot” as was originally planned.  Apparently, producers were so impressed with Grant Gustin’s portrayal of Barry Allen in the already filmed episodes eight and nine of this season, that instead of empowering Barry with his super speed abilities in episode twenty of ‘Arrow’, they are dishing out more cash for an even more elaborate stand-alone pilot.

But first, Gustin as Allen will debut on ‘Arrow’ in the episode entitled ‘The Scientist’.  You can read the synopsis below:

“A seemingly impossible robbery at Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division brings Central City police scientist Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) to town.  Citing a similar case back home, Barry offers to help Oliver and team with the investigation.  Oliver senses there is more to Barry than meets the eye, but he’s distracted by the similarities between this current case and something that happened on the island.  Meanwhile, Felicity takes a liking to Barry, which doesn’t go unnoticed by Oliver.  Sin (guest star Bex Taylor-Klaus) asks Roy for help when a friend of hers goes missing.  Roy is surprised when Thea not only encourages him to help, but joins the search.  Unfortunately, Sin’s friend is connected to Brother Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro), and their search ultimately gets one of them seriously injured.”

Now here are the first glimpses of the actor in the role:

So… he’s not blonde.  Is that a deal-breaker?  Or can you look past it?  (I have to say, being not-blonde and trying to be blonde can look just horrible, so maybe it’s better they just let him look like him and relied on his acting chops.)

Are you excited to see The Flash on screen?  Do you think Gustin can deliver?  Or is he the wrong fit?  Well, Hollywood is interested in viewers reactions.  If fans embrace Gustin in the role, he’s reported to be a lock for playing the role in a live-action film!  (And may even pop up in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’!)
