We’ve known for awhile that Colin Farrell (‘Total Recall‘) has been in discussions for one of the leads in the upcoming ‘Warcraft’ film and it looks like the script alone may be enough to sway him for a positive answer.

As the the film’s main conflict will be between Anduin Lothar versus Durotan from the very first game and not the events in ‘World of Warcraft’, it may be safe to assume Farrell’s role would be one of those two leads. Will we be seeing him portray a younger Anduin? Will he have some makeup and being playing the elder leader Anduin that was more known from the series? Or speaking of makeup could he be donning an Orc outfit and be portraying Durotan?

Seeing Colin portray either an older man or an orc would be a huge change of his character and show off some of his acting chops. It would also be more interesting to see him play the orc bent on world conquest over the elderly hero that is trying to save his lands.

So after reading the script, is he in the running for a lead role? Here’s what Farrell had to say:

“Don’t know what’s happening, man. I read the script, if that’s any use to you, and it’s amazing….Duncan was cool. I sat with Duncan for awhile and read the script, loved the script, and we was as cool as can be. I don’t know what’s happening with the film. I don’t know where they are in the process…It’s just a world that I never explored — and it’s a really big and fantastical world. I can’t imagine what he, being as visually gifted as he is, Duncan, and what he did on Moon with, like, a dime, I can’t imagine what he’d do with this Warcraft.”

Farrell clearly is being sold on what Duncan did in his previous work and likes the sound of where ‘Warcraft’ is going. He might not know the universe that well so fans can take it at face value but moviegoers should be excited about it!

So what will Colin be doing for the film?

“Can I? I probably shouldn’t. I don’t even know, actually, I’ll just say that! I don’t even know. We were just talking, and Duncan just said, ‘There might be something in it for you!’ And I said, ‘Catering?’ [Laughs]”

Catering. Clearly he is going to be catering!

With Duncan Jones (‘Moon’) in the director’s chair and some amazing concept art being brought together by Oscar-winning special effects supervisor Bill Westenhofer (‘Life of Pi’, ‘The Golden Compass’) the film should look amazing. So will Colin be joining the team as the lead? We’ll still have to be wait to find out but it’s looking good!

What do you think of the upcoming ‘Warcraft’ film? Thoughts on which part of the lore they should hint at for this or future films? Which key portions of Azeroth do you want to see?
