Christian Bale is the only actor to portray Batman in three consecutive films.  And his portrayal managed to wipe away the camp appeal of earlier portrayals and earned more at the box office than preceding versions.  So obviously some people want to know his opinion of the next phase of Warner Brothers/DC’s plans to bring their super heroes to the big screen.  Seeking to distance itself from the Christopher Nolan trilogy, director Zack Snyder has recast the role with famed actor Ben Affleck… to some fan outcry.

But Bale did have some say about his stepping out of the role for good:

“I wish him all the best. He’s a very experienced actor and filmmaker and, you know, he’ll make it his own.  Our thing’s finished and we always declared it was finished and, you know, it should be passed on to another actor, and will be again after him.”

It’s nice that the actor reached out to his successor, however his last bit of advice is a little bit… icky:

“The only thing I said to him is, look, just make sure he can take a piss without anyone having to help him because it’s a little bit humiliating, as I went through, when you have to somebody, you know, kind of … help you out of the costume in order to be able to do that.  So that was my main piece of advice for him.”

So this is a recurring problem for the Batmen.  Those rubbery Batsuits have always looked completely impractical.  Prior to Bale’s portrayal, the Batmen couldn’t even turn their heads because of the way their cowls were designed!  That’s pretty limiting for a character that is supposed to be an incredible acrobat and martial artist.  And apparently, they can’t pee in them without help.  That’s a problem!

Kevin Smith saw the new suit and thought it was “mind-blowing” so maybe we’re going to actually see something that actually looks like the costume from the comics.  Or at least something that’s not monochromatic.

What do you think?  Do you prefer the black rubber look or would you prefer something more akin to the comics?
