In the latest released photo we get a good look at one of the demons from ‘I, Frankenstein‘ named Dekar. Taking a look at Dekar here he clearly doesn’t look to be in that great of a mood though the attention to detail they have on him is amazing. I’ve been wanting to see more of the demons ever since early concept art from the film came out. The demons have probably been what I’ve been most looking forward to. The look of them is just amazing and if no other part of the film stacks up, I think they at least hit a home run from this portion of the special effects. Of course to be fair, I could also see this guy as an extra on a ‘Star Trek’ episode.
Even though the demons look pretty great, a certain image of Frankenstein’s Monster portrayed by Aaron Eckhart (‘The Dark Knight’) and the most recent trailer for the film have everyone feeling a little iffy about it. As a monster he just just looks a little too proportionately put together for being something created from multiple corpses. On top of that the trailer feels far too much like a different take on ‘Van Helsing’ for my taste and is a bit contradictory at points.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy. It’s just that the more I see of the actual footage, the more I think we may have a flop on our hands. I hope they prove me wrong. With the cast and some of the special effects I’d really like this to work.
