Here it is ladies and gentlemen, the first image out from Walt Disney’s upcoming live-action ‘Cinderella’ movie. We have the first shot of Cinderella herself, Lily James (‘Wrath of the Titans’), atop a horse bounding towards something and in a good mood. I’m just curious as to if this is earlier in life or when she’s spending time with the Prince with that smile plastered on her face and looking like she’s not being used for manual labor around the house.

Kenneth Brannagh (‘Thor‘) will be directing the first ever Disney created live-action version of this classic character. Also in the film are Richard Madden (‘Game of Thrones’) as the Prince, Cate Blanchett (‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘) as the stepmother Lady Tremaine, and Helena Bonham Carter (‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’, ‘Dark Shadows’) who will be playing the Fairy Godmother.

According to the Brannagh:

“It is impossible to think of Cinderella without thinking of Disney and the timeless images we’ve all grown up watching. And those classic moments are irresistible to a filmmaker. With Lily James we have found our perfect Cinderella. She combines knockout beauty with intelligence, wit, fun and physical grace. Her Prince is being played by Richard Madden, a young actor with incredible power and charisma. He is funny, smart and sexy and a great match for Cinderella.

So he knows that he has a lot of history to live up to in terms of the quality of the film. With big shoes (and a certain glass slipper) to fill, the stakes are pretty high for the retelling of this story. Fortunately, they have a lot of time to clean it up still as the release date isn’t scheduled until March 13th, 2015.

What do you think? Does this first image capture the feeling of the classic fairy tale? Are you looking forward to the live-action retelling? Personally I’m kind of curious as to how the step sisters will be acting towards her in this day and age where bullying is such a hot topic. Sound off below on what you think!
