The upcoming reboot of the ‘Terminator’ franchise is coming along. Recently, Alan Taylor of ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Thor: The Dark World’ entered talks to direct the project based on the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger film from James Cameron. There’s no word yet on if the former California governor will still be a part of the first in a planned trilogy, or if former WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will co-star as the rumors say he will, but we do have news about the movie’s release date.

The summer of 2015 is lining up to be one of the biggest summers for blockbusters in recent memory. With ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Ant-Man’, ‘Jurassic World’, and the sequel to ‘Man of Steel’ featuring Ben Affleck as Batman, there’s some stiff competition for any film looking to come out between May and September of that year. But with hopes to even the playing field, the latest installment of the technological takeover has changed it’s premiere date. Previously, this new ‘Terminator’ was set to drop on June 26, 2015, but now it looks like it has been pushed back to July 1, 2015. The Hollywood Reporter tells us that the co-production from Skydance, Annapurna Pictures, and Paramount is now slated to go head to head with Fox’s ‘Independence Day 2’ and an untitled project from Illumination Entertainment, the studio that brought us ‘Despicable Me’ and ‘The Lorax’. Of course, ‘Terminator’ has a two-day jump on those two, but when the weekend comes, it’ll be quite the battle for Fourth of July box office supremacy.

Do you think that the new release date will help ‘Terminator’ blast it’s way to the number one spot during the holiday weekend in 2015? Will you be among the masses checking out what they’re doing by remaking another beloved movie from the 80s? Let us know in the comments below.
