A couple of days ago, Justin Bieber stirred up quite a reaction when he Instagramed a photo of himself holding a realistic looking ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ script with the caption “#Robin?” Though it didn’t spark the same controversy that the announcement that Ben Affleck would play Batman caused, social media did once again light up with reactions.
Part of the reason for the diminished response is surely due to the fact that no one believed it (or is that beliebed it) for a second. And sure enough, folks put two and two together and realized that this was all part of a Funny Or Die skit.
Nevertheless, the former Robin, Chris O’Donnell who played the role in ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Batman & Robin’ just responded with his own picture:
It might have been funnier if he’d put his own name on the script, but oh well. Still, it’s fitting that the former Robin chimes in on the recent internet outrage.
What do you think? Would you rather bring back Chris O’Donnell or bring in Bieber? By this point, O’Donnell would probably have to graduate to playing Nightwing! Oh well. Robin is a tricky concept to make work in this day and age. The idea works in the comics, but a similar action would be harder to make realistic. (Although I did actually enjoy O’Donnell’s performance in ‘Batman Forever.’)
I think I’d rather see the Damian Wayne version realized, with one of those creepy young kids Hollywood has a knack for finding and casting in horror movies. What do you think? Robin, yay or nay? Comment below!
