Legos have certainly been a popular plaything for children for decades, but over the past few years, the building blocks company has started to expand to video games and movies, including the upcoming major motion picture ‘The Lego Movie’ starring Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, and more. Though those mediums, the company had brought to life their toys from such franchises as ‘The Lord of the Rings’, ‘Harry Potter’, and the DC Universe. Now, they are adding the heroes of Marvel Comics to the mix as ‘Lego Marvel Superheroes’ prepares to be released for gaming consoles in the fall.

Right now, the annual video game trade fair Gamescom is currently taking place in Cologne, Germany. On the first day of the event, Marvel Entertainment and Lego unveiled a new trailer featuring a number of characters that will appear in the game such as heroes like The Avengers, The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man, as well as villains such as Doctor Octopus, Magneto, Loki, Doctor Doom, and Galactus. Previously, we learned that Howard the Duck would be making an appearance as well, but who knows exactly how useful he’ll be in stopping Dr. Doom’s Doom Ray of Doom from being built? Anyway, you can check out the newest trailer for the game below:

While the character selection seems to be fairly expansive in this new Lego game, I noticed that Deadpool hasn’t popped up yet. I know for a fact that there is a minifig for the Merc With A Mouth, so why doesn’t he appear in the game? Well, it’s possible that he does and the company has just been keeping it a secret. Hopefully that’s the case since you can’t have such a tongue-in-cheek portrayal of the Marvel Universe without him.

Are you excited for ‘Lego Marvel Superheroes’? Do you think that it’ll be more popular than it’s DC counterpart? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

‘Lego Marvel Superheroes’ is scheduled to be released for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U, PC, Nintendo 3DS, and PS Vita in October.
