Last month we all had suspected that Felicity Jones was playing Black Cat in the upcoming ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ (aka ‘The Supervillain Mega-Movie’). When she stumbled over questions, it sounded as if she might be playing Black Cat or at least leading into it as Felicia Hardy. It was an interesting thought that we’d already have Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane for Peter’s love life, but throwing Felicia Hardy into the mix may have been overkill.

Fortunately it looks like we don’t have a love life overkill to deal with but we will possibly have to deal with a super-villain overkill.

Reading over an interview she did on View London, it’s suddenly unclear on who she will be playing from this a recent quote:

It’s all quite shrouded in secrecy, but I’m the Goblin’s girlfriend – I’m in a relationship with him, and his accomplice. I’m on the dark side.

While you could still take away that Black Cat is a criminal which is why she’s on the dark side and Osborne hired her to steal something, or that she’s playing him to steal from him, this actually points somewhere else entirely.

In the comics when Harry Osborne is The Green Goblin (not his father Norman), he has a girlfriend named Lily Hollister. Out of both of the Osborne’s, she is the only one that I can remember who dates one of the Goblins and becomes someone that would fit in on “the dark side”. On page, Lily accidentally stumbles into one of Norman’s old warehouses and gets herself in contact with the formula turning her into one of the goblins. She keeps this persona secret from Harry and causes chaos throughout the city. So are we about to hit a major change in who is the first Green Goblin? Are they going to be changing which Osborne that Lily is dating? Or are they going to be changing up the Black Cat’s roles a little in her comic to movie adaptation? That’s a good question, but if she’s going to end up being Menace there are just a lot of villains being tossed into the mix.

Right now we’re set to have Electro (Jamie Foxx), Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and possibly The Vulture and The Green Goblin.

We’re up to 4 potential villains so far in the film before fitting in a possible Menace. While I doubt the last two will have major screen time with what has been announced so far, we won’t really find out much until it’s released on May 2nd, 2014.

Do you think Menace is a good fit to put into the Goblin family or would you rather see Black Cat on screen? Have we hit villain overload?
