AMAs on Reddit are always a lot of fun. For those unfamiliar, a celebrity opens the floor to his or her fans for a question and answer session where they can ask literally anything they want. They’re always good for some fun stories and some great insight into what an actor or director is thinking.

Recently, to promote his new film ‘The World’s End’, Edgar Wright participated in an AMA run by Total Film. In addition to discussing the upcoming movie starring his long-time collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, he went into topics such as Timothy Dalton’s vocal exercises on the set of ‘Hot Fuzz’, the cult status of ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’, and his adaptation of ‘Ant-Man’ for Marvel Studios.

Regarding his long-awaited superhero movie, the director was asked about how Ant-Man’s relatively obscure nature affects his portrayal of the character. He responded by saying that it’s a preferable situation compared to tackling a bigger name like Superman or Batman:

“I think that’s a good thing because I think the character has a great kind of high concept power, and I think the fact that it’s lesser known means that we’re actually freer to kind of adapt the material, which I think is a good thing. Because I think… ‘Man Of Steel’ has proved that people sort of like for a character that decades old, some people have a very strong opinion of what he should and shouldn’t do. And personally I find that really difficult to actually try and make a movie with, people sort of being so kind of impassioned about what the character is.”

You can see the whole AMA in the video below, including Wright’s thoughts about who Pegg & Frost could play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

After doing some thinking of my own (and researching who Damage Control is), Wright is totally on point about his friends taking on those characters. Maybe the filmmaker could put a call in to Joss Whedon and maybe get a Damage Control episode of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ featuring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. After all, superhero battles do take a toll on a city, so it would be hilarious to see those two be the ones responsible for cleaning it up.

‘The World’s End’ starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, Martin Freeman, and Rosamund Pike hits cinemas in the UK on 19 July 2013 and in US theaters on August 23, 2013.
