They arrived. The world changed. Life endures.

And so begins the newest trailer for Syfy’s new multiplatform series, ‘Defiance’.

The premise is actually pretty interesting and very much reminds me of those old western movies where the new sheriff in town is up against gunslingers, lawbreakers and the harsh living conditions of the Old West. This time around, instead of fighting “savages”, the sheriff fights insurgents of the alien form.

‘Defiance’ stars Grant Bowler as Sheriff Nolan who is the chief law keeper of the town called ‘Defiance’ formerly known as St. Louis. His character will also play a part in the MMO game version of the show which goes live online on April 2 but instead of St. Louise, the game will take place in San Francisco.

After 4 years in development, it will be interesting to see how the two platforms will interact with each other. I’m all for original concepts so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this one!

If the trailer below has piqued your interest, then make sure you also check out the first 14 minutes of the pilot episode that was recently released.

So, what do you think? Will you be watching ‘Defiance’?

Synopsis:

In the year 2046, it’s a new Earth – with new rules. Over thirty years after various alien races arrived on Earth, the landscape is completely altered, terraformed nearly beyond recognition. To the town of Defiance, on what used to be St. Louis, comes the mysterious Nolan and his charge, Irisa. As they settle into town – overseen by the mayor, Amanda Rosewater and filled with residents like the powerful Rafe McCawley, enterprising lounge owner Kenya  and the ambitious, alien Tarrs – events begin to unfold that threaten the fragile peace this border town has fought for.

‘Defiance’ airs Mondays at 9/8C on Syfy beginning April 15th.
