As promised on Monday after a six-second preview was released, a new extended teaser for James Mangold’s ‘The Wolverine’ premiered yesterday. The footage, which debuted exclusively on MTV with an introduction from Hugh Jackman himself, heavily features model-turned-actress Rila Fukushima as Yukio, the deadly female ninja that develops feelings for the feral mutant. The clip also contains some hints at some major plot points of the film, including a possible tie-in to Logan’s Weapon X origin story.

Later today, we’ll be getting the full-length trailer, but until then, you can check out this twenty-second teaser:

From just that short clip, I can already tell that the action and overall tone of the film looks incredible. After Gavin Hood ran wild with one of the most popular X-Men ever in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ with terrible results, it looks like James Mangold is going to make us forget about that movie that came before this.

What do you think about the latest footage? Are you satisfied with what you’re seeing so far? Sound off in the comments.
