After the massive success of J.J. Abrams’ 2009 film Star Trek, Digital Extremes and Namco Bandai began work on bringing the classic franchise to the video game world. Now only a few short months away, Star Trek: The Video Game is looking to bring players into the Star Trek universe in a brand-new adventure starring Captain James T. Kirk and the Vulcan Spock.

Star Trek: The Video Game is a brand-new adventure that is all about co-op gameplay. Executive Producer Brian Miller and his team knew that Kirk and Spock’s cooperation is what drives the crew of the USS Enterprise to success, and it had to be the focus of the game.

“Kirk is this brash cowboy character, whereas Spock is the exact opposite,” Miller states, “and when you break down Star Trek to those elements, you had to make a co-op game. There was no other game we could possibly make.”

Star Trek: The Video Game is set for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on April 23, but Paramount Pictures wants to give fans an inside look of the making of the game with a new video series which you can watch below.
