One of the coolest things about the ‘Mad Max’ movies was the vehicles of mass destruction driven by the characters. With production on the film wrapped, not much is known about this new installment of the ‘Mad Max’ franchise, but thanks to a production video that has surfaced online we can see these post-apocalyptic transports in action.

The original ‘Mad Max’ launched the career of Mel Gibson. This time around it’s Tom Hardy (‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ ‘Inception’) who will don the role of Max with Charlize Theron (‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ ‘Prometheus’) as the evil Imperator Furiosa. But don’t think this is your average reboot. While Hardy may be the same individual that Gibson played, there’ll be a few differences in his character and rumor has it that this film won’t tie in to the previous Mad Max films. They will, however, share the same post-apocalyptic landscape and universe as seen in the video. Here’s a short synopsis:

“Mad Max: Fury Road” sees Mad Max (Hardy) caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the imperator Furiosa (Theron). A battle erupts on the road in front of them over the course of the film as they attempt to push the rig to safer terrain.

The film has no official release date, only that it will be in theaters sometime in 2014. Currently ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is in post-production and will be undergoing a 3D post conversion. Hopefully more images and even a teaser will be out soon.

Until then, here’s the production video of some of the filming that went on during the shoot.
