It was first announced back in October that Disney would be acquiring Lucasfilm and making new ‘Star Wars’ movies. Furthermore, a new trilogy would begin in 2015 with ‘Episode VII’, which is being written by ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ and ‘Toy Story 3’ scribe Michael Arndt. Since the announcement was made and the deal was finalized, the company has been releasing video interviews with the man behind the galaxy far, far away, George Lucas, and his successor, Kathleen Kennedy, in order to break down the transitional process. This week, the final installment of these interviews was released and the message was one of farewell.

In this new interview courtesy of the ‘Star Wars’ YouTube page, Lucas and Kennedy reflect on letting go, transitions, retirement, and the future of the franchise. Check out the video below:

It’s a bit bittersweet to watch this video as many have said that Lucas needs to hang it up and hand the ‘Star Wars’ reins over to someone else, but now that it’s actually happening, it’s more than a little sad to say the least.
