Can you believe it’s been a year since the last ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ trailer was released? What a difference a year makes! Not only has Jack’s occupation become more PC (the film was originally titled ‘Jack the Giant Killer’), this trailer does a much better job at describing what the film is about.

It’s a shame that the film’s release was pushed back considering that ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ was the reason Bryan Singer has passed on directing ‘X-Men: First Class’ a couple years ago. But this new trailer with more footage, more CGI and more action makes the wait worthwhile. Especially exceptional is hearing Ian McKellen narrating the trailer as well as seeing Stanley Tucci part in the film.

The trailer gives a ‘Princess Bride’ kind of vibe with lowly farm boy Jack set out to save the princess. The story coincidently seems to tie in to ABC’s version seen on ‘Once Upon a Time’ about a war between the humans and giants so a for short time, I has half expecting to see Jorge Garcia in a cameo.

There’s action, humor and romance in this trailer and while it might not have been successful as a tentpole film, the rescheduling of ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ may be to its advantage. Not only does it look like a cute family film, it is the first of many other fairy tale movies that will be released next year which include ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ and ‘Oz the Great and Powerful.’

Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think of Singer’s reimaging of the fairy tale ‘Jack and the Beanstalk:’
