Darth Vader Returning For ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’?

After making the acquisition of Lucasfilms two weeks ago, Disney’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ is finally starting to come together. While talks of a director are still ongoing, ‘Toy Story 3’ writer Michael Arndt has officially been brought on to pen the first installment of the new trilogy. There’s also been some talks about who would return to the franchise if asked, and so far that list includes Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill. However, according to one report, another big name from George Lucas’ monumental franchise is eyeing a return. Cue the Imperial March because it looks like Darth Vader is making a comeback!

According to British tabloid site Express.co.uk, industry insiders inform them that the Dark Lord of the Sith is going to be resurrected and play a “significant role” in the new trilogy produced by the House of Mouse. Here’s the whole quote:

“He’s an integral part of the franchise. Replacing him is virtually impossible. The plan is for him to return and play a significant role in the new films.”

For those of you keeping score at home, the former Anakin Skywalker met his demise in ‘Return of the Jedi,’ but this site seems to think that he’s coming back from the dead to wreak havoc on those who wronged him because the report goes on to say, “This is science fiction, remember. Darth Vader will rise from the ashes.”

Knowing that this is coming from a British tabloid, which isn’t exactly the best source for news on these topics, makes me more than a little skeptical, but I wouldn’t doubt that the studio would want to bring back one of the franchise’s most iconic and marketable characters back into the fray. However, I hope that they don’t go down that road.

In the Expanded Universe books, doesn’t Luke eventually struggle with turning to the
    Dark Side?!
(Although I would think that IF so, He would choose a Different Name?!)

    Maybe It’s a Clone-Army of Vader(s)?!
That of the Emperor DID clone Vader?!
(I am so amped to see this next Chapter of the series!)
PLEASE vote for ‘Genndy Tartakovsky’ to Direct the Next Film!!!!!

Not only is he DEAD, his spirit has been redeemed to the Light side.
Maybe, Imperial cultists could steal his armour from wherever Luke has buried it and then animate it with the spirit of their Emperor to create an unholy combination of all that was Evil in the first trilogy, but probably they’ll just clone him.

THE WORST NEWS if become reality…
Darth Vader DIED before Anakin Dies… (when Anakin redeemed to the Light Side).
This discussion is to revive Darth Vader and not Anakin Skywalker… Revive the Lord Sith.. IS IMPOSSIBLE.. Darth Vader and Anakin are %100 connected..

CLONE or RESURRECTION is impossible.. Even if you clone Anakin from his ashes (stupid), and he ibecome evil again.. (more stupid), he will not need the darth vader custom cause his clonation will be fully healthy.. why clone/resurrect him without the legs and 1 arm to fit in the darth vader custom again? (totally stupid)..

Lord of the ring is back without lot of main characters from original trilogy.. and will be a success… no more words

Darth Vader as a clone is a very interesting idea, it reminds me of when Ripley was cloned for Alien Resurection after she killed herself at the end of Alien 3.
So if they do bring back Vader then it is a logical explanation that he was cloned in some way and his mind has been re-conditioned by the dark side.
As the prequel trilogy was set about thirty years before Episode IV (ANH) it would make sense for the sequel trilogy to be set 30 years after episode VI (ROTJ). This way it would work if original cast were to return playing older versions of Han, Luke and Leia.
The more characters that can be brought back from the original trilogy, the better. Yoda’s ghost could even make an appearance.
    Can’t wait till 2015.

Maybe it’s not Darth Vader. Maybe they’ll just bring in Darth Caedus?

  • No. No. No. NO!

This is just another in the list of hints dropped by Disney that they do indeed plan to ruin the franchise.
