After teaming up in ‘The Expendables 2’ earlier this year, action movie royalty Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren will be sharing the screen once again as they revisit the ‘Universal Soldier’ franchise, where they played soldiers who were killed in Vietnam that were reanimated by a top secret government program.

According to Geek Tyrant, Van Damme and Lundgren will join Scott Adkins and Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arlovski in the sixth installment (but third in the cannon) in the film series titled ‘Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning’. Here’s the official synopsis of the movie, followed by the first trailer:

John (Adkins) wakes up from a coma to discover his wife and daughter were slaughtered in a brutal home invasion. Haunted by images of the attack, he vows to kill the man responsible, Luc Deveraux (Van Damme). While John tries to piece his reality back together, things get more complicated when he is pursued by a relentless UniSol (Arlovski). As John gets closer to Deveraux and the rouge army of genetically enhanced warriors led by back-from-the-dead leader Andrew Scott (Lundgren), John discovers more about himself and begins to call into question everything he believed to be true.

The trailer looks like something that might go directly to video, but I don’t think that’s the case. I’m sure fans of the series might be excited to see it, but without ‘Universal Soldier: The Return’ star and former WCW Champion Bill Goldberg, I might have to decline.

Directed by John Hyams, ‘Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning’ is scheduled for release on November 30th, 2012.
