New ‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ Teases Series Characters

After days of surreal teasers for ‘American Horror Story: Asylum,’ FX has finally released two trailers that give a good idea of the characters each of the cast will be playing in the show.

‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ takes place at the Briarcliff Institution, an insane asylum in 1964 that’s run by the sadistic nun, Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) and will involve Nazi’s, aliens, and a serial killer names Bloody Face who wears a mask made out of his victim’s skin. Not too long ago a rundown of the characters was unveiled and now we have two TV teasers that spotlight each of the cast dressed in character in all their ‘American Horror Story’ creepiness.

The first trailer is a bit more spoilery as it gives a glimpse as the reason why the people are in the asylum. The scenes include Chloe Sevigny dressed in undergarments as her character, Shelly, is a nymphomaniac, Sarah Paulson (as Lana the journalist) is shown with her lesbian lover and writing on her arm and Lily Rabe as Sister Eunice has buckets of “something” near her bed indicating she is involved with the Raspers (don’t blink or you may miss the hand under her bed reaching for the bucket!).

The second trailer just has the cast lying in their respective hospital beds in a comatose state as the camera pans with the credits of each cast member flashing between each person. At the top of the trail of beds, Monsignor Timothy O’Hara (Joseph Fiennes), Sister Jude (Lange), and Dr. Arden (James Cromwell) are overlooking the patients.

Through it all, both teasers have the song ‘Que Sera Sera’ playing with the last image of Fiennes, Lange, and Cromwell. This could be representative of the fact that there will be a triangle of sorts between the three of them as Cromwell’s character, Dr. Arden, will be going head to head with Sister Jude (Lange) who in turn has affections for Monsignor O’Hara (Fiennes).

Looking closely, some of the abstract teasers that had been released can now be somewhat interpreted. The first teaser, for example, could be representing Sister Eunice feeding the Raspers.
