Whovians have been waiting since last Christmas for the mad man in the blue box and it has finally arrived!  In honor of the event, BBC has been rolling out posters, trailers and even a mini web-series for the past week leading up to this very day: the first episode of Season 7 of ‘Doctor Who!’

Karen Gillan, who plays Amy Pond, was on ‘The One Show’ promoting the event and brought two clips from the first episode ‘Asylum of the Daleks.’ As the show was televised in the UK, us Whovians across the pond weren’t able to see her appearance when it aired. But through the magic of the internet, we have it here for you to see!

The clips include scenes featured in the ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ trailer but extended by a few seconds. No real spoilers here, but it’s great to see some new footage from the episode. The video after the trailer is Gillan’s segment on the show talking about her last day on the set, her attempts to imitate a Dalek, and how her mom who is a big Whovian took the news of her leaving the show.

Not only will the series be gaining a new companion this season, it looks like it will also be getting a new beginning. In keeping with the theme of blockbuster episodes (as show runner Steven Moffat has continued to describe this season’s episodes) a new ‘Doctor Who’ title will be appearing in the opening credits. There will no longer be the white ‘DW’ shaped as a TARDIS on the screen but rather a new logo to correspond with each episode. For tonight’s show, the title has been overlayed with Dalek bumps which you can see below:

This logo is currently up on the official BBC Doctor Who website.

So it seems like there will be lots in store when Season 7 begins tonight. Don’t forget to come back here on ScienceFiction.com as we’ll be recapping ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ for you after it airs!

In the meantime, check out the clips for tonight’s episode:
