Intrepid Pictures (‘Oculus,’ ‘The Raven’) has finally found a director for their new feature ‘Fourth Horseman’ and it’s Grzegorz Jonkajtys.

‘Fourth Horseman’ was written by writing partners Byron Willinger and Phil DeBlasi with the latest rewrite done by Ryan Engel (‘Rampage,’ ‘On a Clear Day,’). The film is dubbed as a contemporary action thriller about “a young medical intern who is haunted by nightmarish clairvoyant visions of the future, of being hunted by three of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He discovers his destiny is to prevent the rise of the Fourth Horseman–Death–and to avert the end of the world.”

This will be Jonkajtys’ first full feature as a director after making a name for himself as a Visual/Digital Effects Artist working on such movies as ‘Battleship,’ the second and third ‘Transformers’ movies, ‘Iron Man 2,’ ‘Sin City’ and the 2009 ‘Star Trek’ reboot. He recently finished work on the Wachowski siblings’ ‘Cloud Atlas’ and is currently working on Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim.’

Jonkajtys has directed a few short films, the most recent was the 2010 sci-fi post-apocalyptic  film ‘The 3rd Letter’ and the ‘The Ark,’ another post-apocalyptic film that was nominated for Best Short Film at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

Jonkajtys is one of those helmers who doesn’t fit in the mold of most directors and pretty much has his own vision with the work he does. The final products never cease to impress. That’s why the announcement of him heading the production of ‘Fourth Horseman’ is exciting.

‘Fourth Horseman’ is still in the early stages of development but now that Jonkajtys is onboard, it may not be too long before casting can begin. We’ll keep you updated on the latest news of this film as we get them.

In the meantime, you can check out Jonkajtys’ directing style in his latest short film ‘The 3rd Letter’ below!
