Another day, another Tribute casting announcement. In keeping with the daily dose of Lionsgate’s ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ casting news, it’s been revealed that Maria Howell has just been added to play District 11’s Tribute for the Quarter Quell, Seeder.

Howell has had several guest appearances on shows such as ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ ‘The Game,’ and ‘Necessary Roughness.’ She first came on the feature film scene appearing in ‘The Color Purple’ but has since been seen in ‘The Blind Side’  and ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting.’ She will appear next in the upcoming NBC series ‘Revolution’ in the role of Grace.

WARNING! SPOILERS!

Seeder was a Tribute who didn’t resort to alcohol or other vices to cope with her win in The Hunger Games, unlike Haymitch and Chaff. In the book, she looked to be over sixty but remained healthy and strong. Seeder and Katniss form a bond due to their connections to previous Tributes, Rue and Thresh from the 74th Games that Katniss was up against. Described as confident and kind, Seely strongly reminded Katniss of Rue which accounts for why they took to each other quickly. Like Chaff, Seeder also questioned President’s Snow’s omnipotent authority.

END OF SPOILERS!

So it looks like Mags (Lynn Cohen), Wiress (Amanda Plummer), Johanna (Jena Malone), Chaff (E. Roger Mitchell), Gloss (Alan Ritchson), Brutus (Bruno Gunn), and Enobaria (Meta Golding) will be in the arena with Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson). That leaves quite a few more Tributes to cast including Cashmere, Beetee, Blight, Ceclia, Woof and of course the anticipated Finnick.

Given the fact that the start of production is fast approaching, expect an announcement for these other roles to be forthcoming with one (painstakingly) Tribute revealed each day. Wonder who they’ll announce tomorrow…
