Many diehard fans of ‘Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ have been very vocal about their disappointment that the show is being discontinued (despite the lack of an official announcement) and replaced with ‘Avengers Assemble’. As expected, we discovered a bit more about the new Avengers show at Comic-Con this weekend and the fans of EMH might be a little relieved to discover this news.

According to Comic Book Movie, at the Cup O’ Joe panel, Jeph Loeb made it clear that Marvel isn’t just throwing away what they built with ‘Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’. The plan appears to be to incorporate the feel of the blockbuster motion picture into the animated series, while not discarding the established animated universe. Here’s what Loeb had to say on the matter:

“It better reflects the cast that’s in the movie…but we’re not saying ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ never happened. We took this giant epic story, it has a conclusion we always meant to get to…and when we get out of that you’ll see what ‘Avengers Assemble’ will take it to”

Hmmm… that makes things interesting now because that makes ‘Avengers Assemble’ sound like a continuation of ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’. Well, if that’s the case, then why isn’t Ms. Marvel, the Wasp, or Ant-Man/Yellowjacket in any of the promotional material that’s been released so far? Hopefully that’s something they address in the first episode if it is indeed a true continuation. At the very least, I hope they pick up on Thor’s storyline with Surtur and The Enchantress that was dropped just to tie up some loose ends.

What do you think about that, True Believers? Are you willing to give ‘Avengers Assemble’ a chance if it’s picking up where our beloved ‘Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ left off? Let us know in the comment section.
