‘Lost’ Alumni Elizabeth Mitchell has just signed on for role in the new NBC series ‘Revolution.’ It will be a reunion of sorts as she will be joining ‘Lost’ creator J.J. Abrams who co-created this series with ‘Supernatural’s’ Eric Kripke.

Mitchell gained sci-fi recognition status for her stint as Juliet Burke on the ABC series ‘Lost.’ When that series went off the air, she booked another sci-fi series for the alphabet network playing Erica Evans in the short-lived series reboot ‘V.’ Many of you, however, may be more familiar with her during the holidays as she is seen each year as Carol Newman (aka Mrs. Clause) in ‘Santa Clause 2’ and ‘Santa Clause 3.’

This time around, Mitchell will be taking over the role of Rachel Matheson, the long absent mother of Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) and Danny (Graham Rogers). She is described as a compassionate and beautiful matriarch who is worried as her children is sent off on a dangerous cross-country journey.  She will primarily appear in flashbacks in the series.

Mitchell will be replacing Andrea Roth who originally played the role in the pilot. This isn’t the first time the producers have shuffled actors around as they did the same with Billy Burke. If you recall, he was originally cast in the supporting role of Bass but was bumped up to the lead role Miles within a week of filming.

If you’re not familiar with ‘Revolution,’ here a synopsis from the network:

Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down, lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman’s life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously –- and unbeknownst to her -– had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future.

Along with Burke, Mitchell will be joining Tracy Spiridakos (‘Being Human’), Anna Lise Phillips (‘Home and Away’), Zak Orth (‘Vamps’), Graham Rogers (‘Memphis Beat’), J.D. Pardo (‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’), Giancarlo Esposito (‘Once Upon a Time’), David Lyons (‘The Cape’), Maria Howell (‘The Vampire Diaries’), Tim Guinee (‘Iron Man 2’) and Daniella Alonso (‘The Hills Have Eyes II’, ‘Friday Night Lights’). The series will air Monday nights at 10pm.
