Now that we’re a few months away from the start of production on Alan Taylor’s ‘Thor 2’, we’re starting to get an idea of who’s being added, who’s returning, and who’s not returning for the God of Thunder’s next solo outing on the big screen. Original cast members Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, and Tom Hiddleston are all set to return, with ‘Casino Royale’ bad guy Mads Mikkelsen and (potentially) ‘Chuck’ star Zachary Levi joining the crew, but what of Kat Dennings, who played the sassy 20-something Darcy Lewis? There’s been no official word yet whether or not the ’2 Broke Girls’ star will be making a comeback along with the other cast members from Kenneth Branagh’s Thunderer tale.
The actress has been fairly uncertain about returning for the next Asgardian adventure in Midgard, but now, in an interview via Comic Book Movie, she has revealed that she does indeed know the answer. When asked about her reprisal, Dennings said:
“I do know the answer to that. [However] I do not have the clearance to talk…interpret that as you will. I’ve asked when I can say things, but apparently I can’t yet, so that will come soon.”
As CBM points out, if she wasn’t returning, wouldn’t she just give a flat out no and then credit schedule conflicts or something like that as the reason why she can’t return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I’m speculating right now that if Jane Foster is returning, then her college credit-seeking assistant should be returning as well, especially since Erik Selvig (played by Stellan Skarsgard) is off working for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Nick Fury.
And I assure you that my speculation isn’t just wishful thinking because I kinda sorta have a crush on Kat Dennings. It’s a very educated guess!
