After the release of 2008’s generally disappointing ‘Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe’, hope was waning for a good DC fighting game. However, it appears that NetherRealm, the folks behind those ‘Mortal Kombat’ games, are looking to take another stab at it.

‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ will focus solely on the characters of the DC Universe fighting each other. The game will feature a better story than ‘MK vs. DC’ apparently, as well as big names like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Harley Quinn, and Solomon Grundy. But, according to Topless Robot, the heroes will be evil alternate versions of themselves who wear armor for some reason. I can’t think of a plausible reason for Superman to be wearing armor other than to fit in with the other cool kids. For that matter, I don’t really understand why they need to be evil versions of themselves. It’s all a bit unnecessary to me, but I’ll go with it, I guess.

Check out the first trailer for the game below. It contains yet another thing that I don’t understand: Since when was Bruce Wayne powerful enough to kick Solomon Grundy through a building?

‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ will be released for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii next year.
