While Whovians wait for the next season of ‘Doctor Who’ to start, they didn’t have to wait to see the next adventure of the Doctor and Amy. Today the winning entry from the ‘Doctor Who: Script to Screen’ competition aired on CBBC and it is really cute!

Primary children aged 9-11 in Britain had a chance to compete in ‘Script to Screen,’ a competition where they would submit an original script for a chance to see it come to life on the small screen. The kids had to write a mini episode that involved the Doctor in an Olympic themed story.

Steven Moffat, Carol Skinner (executive producer), and BBC Learning executive producer, Katy Jones, picked the winning script. This year 3 young girls from Ashdene Primary School in Wilmslow had the distinction of being chosen and got to visit the set of ‘Doctor Who’ to meet Matt Smith and Karen Gillan as they filmed their mini episode.

“We loved reading all of the scripts from schools across the UK and the standard of entries was truly outstanding,” said Jones. “It was a difficult, but a tremendously fun task to choose a winner and it was just brilliant to see so many children being creative in developing an adventure for the Doctor. We hope all fans enjoy this special one-off mini episode!”

‘Good as Gold’ is a particularly charming video which had some pretty good lines such as ”if you’re going to call yourself a space traveler you’re supposed to have a least an adventure a week… we haven’t had an adventure in ages!” (Those 3 girls seem to hit the fans’ sentiments right on the spot!) Of course I couldn’t help smile as the Doctor’s hair stood up reminding me of his former incarnation’s hairstyle.

Although U.S. Whovians don’t have access to CBBC, thanks to Doctor Who TV, we can still watch the mini-episode. Check it out below:
