Spawning from the final page of issue two, in this issue of ‘Avengers Assemble’ we get the full on battle between the Zodiac and the Avengers. The whole thing was scattered with some great lines and cool moments and all around good action. To give you an idea of just how much action is involved in this book, right from the get go we get Hulk smashing, and fists continue to fly until the third to last page. Needless to say, this book is indeed action packed.

Tony Stark and Hawkeye have some funny lines throughout, and one of the Zodiac members’ reaction to the way Thor spoke was funny too, but I think I got more chuckles out of the Zodiac’s reactions to fighting the Avengers as a whole. It was like they were fanboys meeting their heroes for the first time while they are trying to destroy them.

While I was enjoying the Avengers doing some old fashioned ass kicking, nothing really stood out to me until it got to the very last page. This series spawned out of the idea that when people see the movie, they’ll want to see a comic with the team from the movie as well. To further add on to the similarities with the movie by having the same line-up of Avengers, Bendis took it a step further and even incorporated another certain someone into this series. How convenient that he should re-emerge again around the same time that some people are meeting him for the first time. And yes, I am being vague so that I don’t spoil the movie for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, but for those of you who have seen ‘The Avengers’, then this guy’s face might look a little familiar to you.

Now that we know who’s really behind this new Zodiac, and the Avengers are face to face with him, things are really about to pick up.
