Back in February, we got our first, extremely badass look at Timur Beckmambetov’s ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’. Based on the book written by Seth Grahame-Smith, and produced by Tim Burton, the movie tells the untold story of one of the greatest Presidents in United States history as Honest Abe secretly seeks vengeance against the vampires that have wronged him and his family while running the country.

Today, Collider shared a new featurette for the film featuring Grahame-Smith, Beckmambetov, and Burton. They talk about how ‘Vampire Hunter’ is sort of an axe-wielding, stove top hat-wearing superhero origin story, obviously to capitalize on the success of ‘The Avengers’ and draw in their audience. Burton even goes so far as to compare Lincoln to Batman. I can see the similarities based on this story, but there’s only one Dark Knight.

Check out the featurette below and you can be the judge as to whether ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ will be the next big superhero flick this summer.

This historical 3D supernatural thriller (a genre combination that I never thought I’d have to put together) is set to hit the cinemas on June 22, 2012. It stars Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln, Mary Elizabeth Winstead of ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs The World’ as Mary Todd Lincoln, and the pilot of Serenity himself, Alan Tudyk, as Stephen A. Douglas, the political rival of Lincoln.
