After several days of teasers for the film, we now get the official trailer for the Rian Johnson time travel movie ‘Looper.’
As Jeff Daniels says in the trailer, “This time travel crap just fries your brain like an egg.” The saying seems so apropos for the movie which has the mob assigning Joseph Gordon-Levitt to kill his future-self played by Bruce Willis. Here’s the official synopsis:
Time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper”—a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)—is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good. . . until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.
Paradoxes and time travel theories proliferate as the trailer does a great job of not only explaining the premise of the film but also showing the action sequences that prove that this will be an edge of your seat ride.
Although ‘Looper’ is not considered a big tent pole of a film with the mega large budget, it does look like it can give those types of films a run for their money.
