Keisha Castle-Hughes, Jennifer Ferrin, Robbie Jones and Keon Mohajeri join the cast of Syfy's 'Rewind'

Looks like Syfy is finally getting to casting it’s new original pilot they green lit in January as Deadline is reporting that Keisha Castle-Hughes, Jennifer Ferrin, Robbie Jones, and Keon Mohajeri have been added to the cast of ‘Rewind’  joining previously cast Shane McRae.

Rewind’ centers on “a team of military field operative and civilian scientists who must use untested technology to travel back in time to alter past events in order to change the future and avoid a devastating terrorist attack.” Henry Knox (McRae), an ex-Special Forces soldier who is wry, clever, and has a razor sharp strategic mind, has been recruited to lead this nearly impossible top secret mission to stop the terrorist attack from occuring.

Joining him is New Zealander Keisha Castle-Hughes is best known as Paikea in ‘Whale Rider’ which earned her an Academy Award nomination. She also appeared in ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’ as Queen of Naboo and in an episode of ‘Legend of the Seeker’ as Maia/The Creater. She will play the role of Priya, the team’s a-typical historian who is a behavioral anthropologist and provides analytical context to the project and the missions, and whose knowledge of history extends beyond the boundaries of facts.

Also part of the team is Bryce, a brilliant scientist who graduated from MIT when she was 18 and is the smartest person in the room. She is obsessive and driven and doesn’t really care what people think of her. Bryce will be played by Jennifer Ferrin. Ferrin may look familiar to comic book fans as she played Dana Faraday in the short lived NBC superhero series ‘The Cape.’ She also starred in ‘Life on Mars’  as Ruth Tyler and most recently on the big screen as Patience in ‘Sex and the City 2.’

Robbie Jones has been cast as Danny, McRae’s friend and the man Knox trusts most to help him get the job done as they embark on their perilous mission into the past. Jones has been a regular on the series ‘One Tree Hill’ and ‘Hellcats’ and can next be seen in the Tyler Perry film ‘The Marriage Counselor’ which will open this year.

Lastly, Mohajeri will play Charlie, a mathematician who has patented an innovative piece of technology that can reduce history to mathematics. He uses this algorithm in order to measure the team’s actions in the past and how it affects the present.

‘Rewind’  was written by Justin Marks (‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li’, ‘Suicide Squad’) and will be directed by Jack Bender who has also directed and executive produced ‘Lost’, ‘Alcatraz’ and the pilot episode of Syfy’s new hit ‘Alphas.’

The pilot is being filmed as a two hour event and very much sounds like it has a ‘Quantum Leap’ meets ‘Time Cop’ meets ‘Source Code’ feel to it. Regardless, it sounds like it make for a thrilling adventure especially with Bender behind the project.

‘Rewind’ has been slated to begin production this month. No air date has been stated.
