Jessica Lucas

It looks like the remake of Sam Raimi’s classic demon horror ‘Evil Dead’ is still on track. THR reports that Jessica Lucas is in talks to join the cast. Lucas is best known for her role on the CW’s ‘Melrose Place’.

Lucas will be joining Jane Levy (‘Suburbia’) who took the lead role in ‘Evil Dead’ after Lily Collins dropped out of the role due to schedule conflicts. Joining Lucas and Levy will be Elizabeth Blackmore, Shiloh Fernandez, and Lou Taylor Pucci. Blackmore is fairly new to the big screen with her most famous role being that of Sister Mariana in ‘Legend of the Seeker’. She will be playing the fiancé of Fernandez’s character. Fede Alvarez is set to direct.

‘Evil Dead’ is about a young girl named Mia (Levy) who is trying to recover from a drug addiction. To get away from the world and deal with the inevitable drug withdrawals, Mia retreats with her friends to a cabin in the woods. Lucas will be playing Mia’s best friend, a nurse, who plans to help with the process. Things take a horrible turn when the group discovers an ancient magical book that unleashes a horde of demons.

Also rumored to be appearing in the remake is Bruce Campbell, who played the lead role of Ash in the original 1981 ‘Evil Dead’ and its two sequels ‘Evil Dead 2’ and ‘Army of Darkness’.
