‘The Cabin in the Woods’ was co-written by’ Joss Whedon (‘The Avengers’, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘Firefly’) and Drew Goddard (‘Cloverfield’, ‘Lost’, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’) who have extensive experience in bringing a new twist to old stories. It also marks the directorial debut for Goddard. The movie is billed as a tongue in cheek thriller horror film on the much used “young people trapped in the woods” horror scenario.

Originally ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ was owned by MGM and was scheduled to be released in 2009 but when the studio went bankrupt, the film sat on the shelves until Lionsgate decided to bring it back out.
