The new ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ is coming next year. Directed by the aptly named Marc Webb (‘500 Days of Summer’), the new film is a relaunch of the series and takes us back (yet again) to the origin of everyone’s favorite wall-crawler. This time, young Peter Parker is played by Andrew Garfield (‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus). Other than a teaser trailer and some news about the return of Spidey’s classic webshooters, news about the new Spider-Man film  has been rather sparse. However, over the past few days, the DailyMail released the first photos from the set to the web.

The first set of photos show Garfield’s Peter Parker with a tissue shoved up his nostril. Why? I haven’t a clue. Maybe Peter’s dealing with an illness or some unfortunate side-effect of his new spider-powers. A nose bleed from web-slinging at high altitudes perhaps? Then again, it could have something to do with the stunt scenes that Garfield has been filming.

We also get a few action shots of Peter in a red getup with a hoodie that’s very reminiscent of the more relaxed Scarlet Spider uniform from the comic series. The shots are obviously early in Spidey’s career as there are no webshooters involved here and our hero is swinging on some construction equipment.

Lastly, we get a look at Rhys Ifans (‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 1’) who plays Dr. Curt Connors in the film. In these shots, Connors has a rather slimy looking hand that I assume means that his missing arm has been regrown and he’s part way through his eventual transformation into the Lizard. I can’t wait to see the final FX for that villain!

‘Amazing Spider-Man’ is directed by Marc Webb. It stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, and Dennis Leary. It hits theaters on July 3, 2012.
