You’ve no doubt heard these famous words more times than you care to count, but here they are again, folks! “I’ve got good news, and I’ve got bad news.” Let’s go with the former, shall we? The first episode will be a 90 minute special!

And now the latter, less desirable news; the show is purported to be split up into two, six episode blocks. The first six episodes will be airing from October 16th, and picking up again on February 12th, 2012. As many Sci-Fi fans can attest to, this is not the first time we’ve seen this. The BBC did it with ‘Doctor Who’ to mixed feelings from fans. Granted, ‘Doctor Who’ wasn’t fraught with nearly as much upheaval – we’re referring, of course to the budget cuts and unceremonious sacking of Showrunner Frank Darabont.

The “Walking Dead” season premiere will debut at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 16, with six hour-long episodes to air in the following weeks. The remaining six episodes or the season will begin airing on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 9 p.m. ET.

In other AMC news, filmmaker Kevin Smith’s ‘Secret Stash’ reality series has been picked up. The series will be set in Kevin’s New Jersey based comic book store, ‘Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash’ and will “explore the world of the neighborhood comic book store and fanboy culture” over the course of six episodes. As a long time fan of Kevin’s work, and a rabid fanboy myself, I’m looking forward to seeing how ‘Secret Stash’ plays out.
