Universal has just released the trailer for their mega costly movie ‘Battleship’. With $200 million as the estimated budget of the film, ‘Battleship’ is becoming one of the most expensive upcoming movies Hollywood has ever made joining the ranks of ‘King Kong’, ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’, ‘Spiderman 3’ and ‘Avatar’.
‘Battleship’ is based on the Hasbro board game of the same name. It is being described as an “epic action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies, and over land as our planet fights for the survival against a superior force.” A fleet of ships commanded by Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson) encounters and is forced to battle with this unknown and mysterious force, which has destructive and evil designs. Admiral Shane, his crew, and his fleet are our last hope to stop them.
‘Battleship’ stars Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch (‘Friday Night Lights’ and who will be playing John Carter in the upcoming ‘John Carter’ movie), Alexander Skarsgard (‘True Blood’), singer Rhianna, Jesse Plemons (‘Friday Night Lights’) and Brooklyn Decker. The movie was directed by Peter Berg with the screenplay written by Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber.
‘Battleship’ is set to be released on May 18, 2012. The big news about this movie is the enormous budget and how it will come across on the big screen. But you can judge for yourself, as you watch the official trailer released today:
